Dust-Free Cleaning

This is a technique you can use to clean your ware to replace the greenware cleaning method. This is highly recommended by Seeley's as there will be no stoneware dust to get into your lungs.

Soft fire un-cleaned piece to cone 018 (Approx. 1285ºF to 1386ºF, 697°C to 753°C).

Controller Operation: Set your controller to increase in temperature at a rate of 3000ºF (1648ºC) per hour until it reaches 1385ºF (752ºC). Leave peepholes open until the kiln shuts off.

Let piece cool.

Immerse in a bucket of water for about 5-10 minutes. Remove from water to clean. Keep wet throughout process.

Remove seam lines and other imperfections with a sharp tool or feather knife (Item #FEAKN) and smooth with fine (220) grit scrubber or comfy scrub (Item # DSCRUB or CMFYSCRB).

Let dry.

Check over piece for any additional imperfections. If needed, wet again and finish cleaning.

Let dry.

Piece is ready for bisque firing and/or decorating
